Similarly, local stress concentration will also occur, which will change the clearance between the cylinder and the rotor, increase the air leakage at the shaft end and reduce the differential expansion. When the temperature of the shaft seal is too low, the steam supply of the shaft seal may carry water, which may cause water hammer in the steam supply pipe of the shaft seal.
